What my collaborators say about me

James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Center for the Environmental Implications of NanoTechnology Chair, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

During the time that Dr. Bossa was in my group, I relied upon him heavily to manage many of the day-to day activities in the lab. He was excellent at multi-tasking while excelling at everything he worked on. He was also a terrific mentor to both undergraduates and graduate students and I surmise that he will be as good in the classroom as he is in the lab.

CNRS Research Director

Nathan Bossa has great educational qualities which he developed during his stay in the USA. He has supervised many young researchers from the license to the doctorate. Although very young, Nathan Bossa has already acquired an undeniable international visibility. Over the years, as a thesis director and then remotely, I have been able to appreciate the seriousness and the unflinching motivation of Nathan Bossa. His humility to solve complex issues combined with great tenacity, enabled him in a short time to become an internationally recognized specialist. His personality, combining motivation, attention to detail but also and above all great listening skills allows him to collaborate with many groups. Whether it is his scientific and technical capacities, motivation, sense of common interest and personality, his role is essential to the smooth running of a group.

I have known Dr. Nathan Bossa for about three years. He was the primary point of contact on a collaboration between my lab at the lab of Professor Mark Wiesner and Duke University. He was a very active collaborator who added much to our work. A first paper based on our collaboration was published in the journal Environmental Science and Technology in 2017 and a second paper is currently under review. Dr. Bossa’s contributions to this work were essential. He added much to the organization of the work and the interpretation of the data. He is very competent in the area of nano-scale analyses (electron microscope, elemental analyses…) and he was very effective in bringing together researchers in my lab with those in Professor Wiesner’s lab. We have continued to interact following his move to his new position with the LEITAT Technology Centre in Barcelona, Spain, and I would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with him in the future. Dr. Nathan Bossa would be an excellent addition to your team and I highly recommend him without any reservation.
